Advanced Nanophotonics (Spring term, Graduate course, Department of Engineering Science)

Lectures given in English for graduate students (Course type II)
Nanophotonics or nano-optics is a new optical science dealing with photons confined in a nanometre scale. To understand this new science, the fundamentals of nonlinear spectroscopy and near-field optics are lectued. Application of nanophotonics to chemistry, quantum device physics, and biological science are also introduced.

Introductory Engineering Mathematics (class III-4, spring term, second-year undergraduate)

Introduction to mathematical methods for physical sciences. The subjects include vector calculus, Fourier series, and other basic mathematics for science and engineering.

General Chemistry (advanced lecture) (fall term, third-year undergraduate)

One-time lecture: Molecular photonics, particularly on visual function

Foundations of Sustainability Research A/B (spring/fall term, Ph.D course, Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research)

The 1st part (lectures) and the 2nd part (workshops) will provide opportunities for discussing the essence of and solutions to global problems related to specific topics.

Interdisciplinary Seminar III, IV, V, VI (spring/fall term, Ph.D course, Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research)

Students will hold group reading and discuss necessary previous research in their specialized and related fields to enhance their competency.

Interdisciplinary Seminar I, II (spring/fall term, Ph.D course, Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research)

Students attend tutorial seminars provided by the principal academic supervisor and supervisors to prepare a presentation at an international conference and publish their drafts in an international scholarly journal and dissertations.

Sustainability Research Advanced Practicum I, II, III, IV (spring/fall term, Ph.D course, Joint Doctoral Program for Sustainability Research)

All the course professors organize it as an occasion to discuss the participants' research outcomes intensively and interdisciplinary.
